Thank you for your interest in Hoop Mamas!

What size hoop should I choose?

Please see the Our Hoops Page for a chart of our hoop sizes along with their corresponding diameters.  When choosing a hoop, we usually recommend that you measure from the ground up to about 2” above your belly button. Some beginners like hoops around belly button height and some like larger hoops, all the way up to mid-chest in height.   Beginners will appreciate larger hoops so if this is your first hoop, remember that bigger is better!  The larger a hoop is, the slower it will rotate around the body, making learning new moves easier.   As you become more comfortable with hooping and are starting to build up a repertoire of tricks, you may want to slowly downsize to a smaller hoop for increased range of moves and faster speeds.  If you are a new hooper who is still unsure of the size of hoop that’s right for you, please email your height and weight to orders@hoopmamas.net and we will recommend a size for you.

Will I be able to hoop with your hoops?

YES!!!  All Hoop Mamas Hoops are constructed of weighted tubing that is heavier and much larger than ‘your mama’s hoops!’  These larger, heavier hoops will rotate around the body much slower, allowing everyone to be successful!  We also use grip tape on each of our hoops, allowing the hoop to literally stick to your hips!  No matter your size, weight, athletic ability OR sense of rhythm, you’ll be able to spin Hoop Mamas hoops!

How long until I receive my hoop?

We ship our hoops out FAST and make sure they are well protected on their journey to you!  All Hoop Mamas hoops are securely wrapped and shipped via USPS Priority Mail.  Your new hoop should arrive within two weeks of your order, although usually it is much quicker than that!

How can I schedule Private Lessons with a Hoop Mama?

Please use the Contact Us Form and choose 'Private Lesson' from the dropdown.  Rates for private lessons are only available via email at this time.  Beginner AND Intermediate Private Lessons are available in 60, 90 or 120 minute sessions.

What should I wear or bring to class?

At Hoop Mamas classes, a variety of sizes of hoops will always be provided for use AND for sale on-site.  To purchase a hoop for class please visit our Store page.  Bring some water to keep you hydrated during and after class and wear comfortable, non- slippery clothing that allows for freedom of movement.  When hooping, the less clothes the better, as the grip tapes on the hoops stick much better to bare skin than clothes.  So if choosing between pants or shorts and tank tops or t-shirts, pick the shorts and the tank!

How do I charge my LED Heady Hoop & does it come fully charged?

For safety during shipping, all NiMh rechargeable batteries inside LED Heady Hoops are not fully charged.  Follow these steps to ensure your hoop's battery life & it will have more than 1000 recharge cycles.

1. Charge battery fully before using for 10 to 12 hours.
2. Discharge battery fully before charging it again, run it until it's out.

Repeat steps four times to condition the battery and recharge at least every two months to maintain battery capacity.

Charge Times: 10 - 12 hours

Run Times on Full Charge:
10 LED: 7-8 hours | 20 LED: 5-6 hours | 30 LED: 3-4 hours

How should I care for my new hoop?

Our hoops are durable and professionally constructed so they should last a long time with proper care.

Most important is where you hoop.  If you hoop on grass, carpet, wood flooring or any other soft or smooth surface your hoop will be less likely to get scratched or damaged when it falls to the ground.  (And it WILL drop as you are learning).  If your hoop is used on concrete, gravel or any other rough surface, it is likely to appear worn more quickly.

Temperature is also important.  Hoops are made of plastic and when they get warm they can lose their shape.  Never leave your hoop in a hot car or outside on a hot day.  If this does occur, take the hoop indoors to a cool place, reshape it back to its circle and then lie it on the ground to cool.

Treat your hoop kindly (no tug of war or twisting, pulling or bending either) and it should bring you joy for a long, long time!
